Hellblazer #191 - Feb. 2004

"Staring At The Wall" by Mike Carey and Marcelo Frusin.

I think we can tell by the cover that the Phantom Stranger will be guest-starring here, and he does, looking more nasty and dark than ever before:
...the Stranger is mighty pissed at John Constantine!

Not having read this series, I don't really know what's going on, but man is it well drawn by Frusin!

I never understood HELLBLAZER. I saw the Keanu Reeves movie and I read a trade paperback, but I just didn't find it all that interesting.

The movie is really nothing like the comic.

Anyways, this is a great story, sort of the culmination the first half of Mike Carey's run had been building towards. I just wish the Stranger had been given a more meaningful role than just showing up to yell at John and tell him to stop being so self-absorbed.

The Stranger's next appearance in Out Of Season was really cool, though.
