It really looks like Alcala was under the (common) impression that PS wore a mask, from the way he inked that next-to-last panel.
I don't really like either invisible-to-onlookers Stranger or sloating-in-midair Stranger. Gratuitous displays of magic aren't his style. If he's just standing there pronouncing truths, he can do it standing.
