The Phantom Stranger takes on his old foe Tannarak, with Cassandra Craft and Dr. Thirteen trying to help:
The beast unleashed by Tannarak charges at the Stranger, and both of them plummet to the street below.
Of course, neither one is killed, and the Stranger vows to fight on. Tannarak has one more ace up his sleeve, and he points out to the Stranger that his beloved Cassandra is floating above them, under Tannarak's control.
But the Stranger senses something...strange. He blasts Tannarak, causing him to lose control of Cassandra!
As he falls, she calls for help, but the Stranger offers none. That's because:
