Phantom Stranger Poll

With I Am The Phantom Stranger now into its final month (*sniff*), I thought I'd take the opportunity to do a couple of polls, and see where you Phantom Stranger fans stand.

First up is, where would you like to see The Phantom Stranger appear? As the star of his own title again, as the star of one of DC's new back-up features, or should he remain a guest-star, popping up in the far corners of the DCU?

Vote early, vote often!

I voted for in his own book but I would take a back up feature. I would think given the current DC mega event, there would be lots of characters needing some guidance.

His own book, definitely. And Vertigo is the perfect place for him. If a John Constantine book can run for a hunnert years, this is surely the age for the Stranger.

Believe it or not, I'd rather see him as a back-up feature. I think he works well in short story form. Just my opinion.

Actually, that's how I voted too. Unless PS was written by a small handful of writers (Wein, Kupperberg, DeMatteis), I'd rather see him in 8-9 page stories than a full book.

Final month? Did I miss something?

Joe-

Well, within a few weeks we'll be up to date with PS appearances, so this blog will be coming to a halt.

I have about a week's worth of stuff I missed along the way, but after that IATPS will go dark.

Okay, few things about that:

1) Sorry to see it go. You put such love into it all!

2) That said, what will you do with EXTRA time? Just kidding. :)

3) Meeeep! I hope we never run into this issue at one of my all-time favorite net haunts, The Aquaman Shrine!!!

I think it goes without saying that if he had his own book again, it would need to be with a superior writer, so I kind of assume that with my vote for a his own book. That said, the pool of writers who could handle him well is probably smaller than for most characters. It's easier to screw up when you're writing about a character whose premise depends so much on mystery. Tell too much and the PS becomes less interesting; not enough, and the story isn't entertaining.

good point. of course, any imagined PS book would be by a "dream team" writer/artist combo.

Joe-

Don't worry about the Shrine having to end--I get so many contributions from people and there's so much more Aquaman stuff out there that it'll keep going...

One thing I learned from doing this PS blog (and my MASH one)--I'm never doing another chronological blog! :)

I really loved reading this blog and hate to see it stop, but with PS showing up from time to time in other titles, I imagine there will be enough to give us periodic updates. You did a great job compiling the information over the past year. If nothing else, this is the definitive Phantom Stranger website!

Brian-

thanks for the kind words.

and yes, IATPS will be doing occasional updates as the Stranger racks up appearances.

since i don't by all---or even many, actually--of DC's books, i think i'll wait until there's like a week's worth of appearances, and then update the site all at once.
